Tesla FSD Supervised Approved in Slovenia as Sixth EU Country.

Tesla FSD Supervised Approved in Slovenia as Sixth EU Country.

Tesla has confirmed that FSD Supervised is now approved in Slovenia. In a post on X on 7 September 2026, the regional Tesla Europe account said the system is cleared for approval and that “rollout will begin soon.”

That makes Slovenia the sixth European Union member state with a national clearance for customer FSD Supervised, after the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark and Belgium. The announcement is a national step. It is not as a result of any EU / TCMV decision, which remains a separate track with a next window expected around 6 October 2026.

Where Slovenia sat before this

Earlier in 2026, Slovenia’s public position was cautious. In June, the Slovenian Traffic Safety Agency (Agencija za varnost prometa, AVP) told us that the Dutch RDW approval for FSD Supervised had “temporary or limited validity” and did not amount to automatic validity across all EU member states. The Vehicles Department also stressed that FSD Supervised is an advanced driver assistance system, not a self-driving or autonomous vehicle, and that the driver remains responsible and must stay in control at all times.

On wider deployment, the Agency’s published line was that further developments depended primarily on procedures and coordination at EU level under Regulation (EU) 2018/858, including the Article 39 path for new technologies. Until those European procedures were completed or harmonised conditions were set, AVP said it was not possible to prejudge the final outcome.

Sixth EU national clearance

Order Country Notes
1 Netherlands First national type-approval path via RDW (April 2026)
2 Lithuania Early recognition / clearance (May 2026)
3 Estonia Third EU market (May 2026)
4 Denmark Tesla Europe announced approval; rollout underway (June 2026)
5 Belgium Ministerial signing then homologation steps (June 2026)
6 Slovenia Tesla Europe announces approval; rollout “will begin soon” (September 2026)

Still SAE Level 2

Nothing in the Tesla Europe post changes the classification of the product. FSD Supervised remains a supervised driver-assistance system. The driver stays responsible for the vehicle, must remain attentive, and must be ready to intervene. That is the same framing RDW used when it granted its provisional approval, and it matches the language AVP used earlier when it described the system as advanced driver assistance rather than autonomy.

Owners in Slovenia should therefore expect the same behavioural rules that apply in the other cleared EU markets: strict hands-on / attention monitoring requirements, and no claim that the car is self-driving.

National approval is not the EU TCMV vote

The regulation used to approve FSD in Slovenia today is a national one. Member states can recognise or clear the Dutch Article 39 exception for their own territory. That is how the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium and now, according to Tesla Europe, Slovenia have got FSD running in their countries.

The second track is EU-wide. The Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles still has to deal with the broader recognition questions around the temporary Dutch approval. That committee process is not finished yet and is subject to a vote. The next voting window is expected around 6 October 2026.

For Slovenian owners, the practical effect of a national clearance is local: once Tesla pushes the software, eligible cars in Slovenia can use the feature under the national rules that apply there. For the rest of Europe, the October TCMV window remains the date to watch for any change in the EU-wide picture.

What Slovenian owners should expect next

Tesla Europe’s wording is “rollout will begin soon.” In other cleared markets, the gap between announcement and the first owner downloads has usually been measured in days to a few weeks. Exact timing still depends on Tesla’s release train, hardware eligibility, and any local configuration checks.
